HACSI has been providing financial assistance to the help organizations in Montgomery County. In addition to providing canned food, the six help organizations have been giving limited financial support to needy families for the purchase of prescription drugs, rent payment to prevent eviction, payment to prevent utility shutoff, and transportation for doctor visits, etc. On an average, the six help provide around $200,000 annually for this purpose. HACSI’s cash grant to each organization take into account the number of individuals served by each organization, and roughly covers 7.5 percent of each HELPS' budget for such programs.
